Fire your SEO, hire a lawyer instead!

Lawsuits are flying in the search world, and there is no better way to get some press coverage (free link included ) ), hence loads of traffic you wouldn’t have received otherwise. Who had ever heard of KinderStart.com before they sued Google over rankings?

Earlier this year, Agence France-Presse sued Google over copyright infringements in Google News and in March, Google won a copyright infringement lawsuit against them by writer Gordon Roy Parker. He had posted a chapter of his book on a forum and Google, as it should, indexed it. No better publicity for his book than to sue.

But that’s not all dears, blackhat and whitehat SEOs are also suing each other. Aaron Wall of SEOBook.com was sued by SEO company Traffic-Power.com for posting “defamatory communications” and “trade secrets” on his blog.

More in general, there were 8,738 IP-related lawsuits in 2000 compared to 9,590 in 2004.
