Google Spreadsheets

On Tuesday, Google has launched its attack om Microsoft’s Excel with its very own spreadsheet program called Google Spreadsheets. It doesn’t have all the powerful features that Excel has (yet!) but it’s free and web-based. Google opened a page where you can take a sneak peek at Google Spreadsheets.

The launch comes in a limited test version, you can sign up on a first come first serve basis, so hurry up! You can invite others to use Google Spreadsheets by sharing a document (xls. or .csv format) with them.

Earlier this year, Google started marching down the road of an alternative to PC desktop software with the acquisition of Writely, a free web-based word-processing program. I have some invitations to Writely left, if anyone is interested :)
